Ode To My Son

Oh son, you were so small and cute

It seems like yesterday,

You tried to fill your Daddy's shoes

Of this we can't refute.

As you have grown

I've watched to see

What kind of man you'd be

I've watched you learn and lead and work
And of you I am proud.

Must Have

Connie this blog is for you. You posted things you must have and asked what the readers' must haves are. So-after much thought, struggle, and decisions I have decided on my must haves.

I will start with the only girly thing I could come close to thinking of.

#1

This is the first hand lotion I found to work on my dry hands. I can't stand smelly stuff, nor can I stand greasy stuff. So-This Gold Bond Brand lotion is my one and only semi-girly must have.

#2

Nike Tennis Shoes. Good for 8 1/2 mile walks and the only brand I have found that are comfortable for my feet. Two pair are good to have on hand at a time.

#3

George Foreman Grill--a present from my parents one year. Excellent tool for high protein diets. A real pain to clean because it is time consuming and hard to get scraps out of the grill plate, but worth it--especially when I lose weight while on my diet.

#4

Laptop. Good for completing school papers and online classes. Not long life though--needs to be replaced every so often to keep a fast running system.

#5

Wireless printer--COOL! Can sit across the room, on the porch, in the bedroom and print. Drawback-must have ink.

#6

Books. Lots and lots of them.

#7

My dog. Nice to cuddle with while I read one of those many books.

#8

Porch swing. The dog completes the set. Add a book and a cool day and what more could I ask for?

I Need to Go Back to Work

Okay. See the cute picture?

The poor dog was so bored today I had to take him for a drive. I rolled down the window for a minute. Of course since it is in the high 90's I rolled the window back up. The poor dog who was on the other side of the car, jumped onto my lap and stuck his head out the window--while it was going up. Luckily, the window stopped going up, but he was stuck. I couldn't find the button fast enough to roll the window back down. As you can see from the picture he is fine. Scared him though. Scared me too.

New picture:

This is my patio gardening attempt this summer. And-as you can see I have cherry tomatoes. I didn't want the birds to eat my tomatoes so I brought them in to finish ripening. I will probably eat them tomorrow. I can hardly wait.

Now, lest you think patio gardening is my forte, let me show you a few more pictures. The first one is my blueberry plant, the second are my strawberry plants.

RIGHT! What blueberry bush? What strawberries? Although, the fact that I have cherry tomatoes means that I am doing better than last summer's patio garden project.

Last couple of pictures. I get excited when I think someone really wants to send me this message :)

But--I know it's not much to get excited about when it ends like this:

Amazing. I can be so busy working and going to school. I get so few days when I have time I hardly know what to do with myself when I've got it.

Fishing For Comments

Okay you guys. When a person texts you and says, "Check out my blog" that generally means the person really, really wants you to see something new on the blog. When you say, "I'll do that now" that generally means (loosely translated) I am going there as I am texting this response and even as I finish this text I am looking at it and am genuinely entertained. It also means-I am not only genuinely entertained, but I am a bit jealous at the creative endeavor the creator of the podcast undertook while on vacation. In fact, if I (the textee and reader of the blog) really think about it and if I had $1,000,000,000 I would pay the creator (texter, podcaster) a lot of money.

All of the previous genuine perusal of the blog generally causes one to write a comment about the podcast posted on the previously posted and discussed blog. In fact, not saying something like, "Ha ha, funny" or even, "This is really lame" makes the creator of the blog (podcast) wonder if the recipients of the above original text really looked at the blog.

So-while the original texter may have more time on her hands than say,for example, the textees, one must genuinely (I like this word today) wonder if it was worth the four hours it took to compile the podcast from the previous day's blog post.

Feel guilty yet? Post a response then! :)

Nothing Much Once Again!

Today I am just sitting here contemplating everything. Since I have no siblings or parents around that seems to be what I do a lot of--contemplating. I contemplate because it's not real fun to talk out loud to myself.

Anyway--isn't life funny? Not really, but it was something to write. Hmmm. I walked eight and a half miles today. My feet HURT!!! I got sunburned through my shirt--or it's just red from heat.

Found out the job I interviewed for was given to someone else--politics within the district. So-even though I was bummed out on Thursday it makes much more sense today.

What else can I tell you that will bore you to tears? I'm watching Hannah Montana. I haven't seen this episode. Yes, I watch Hannah Montana. And--I want to see the Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. This is why I should still be in the classroom-I watch the same shows as the kids-and like them.

Don't know if I'll be able to make it to Arizona. I'm hoping to have a couple of interviews next week. I'll have to wait and see. Hopefully I can at least come for a couple of days.

Bored yet? How about a video? It's one of my favorites. If you can't view it here, the URL is: http://teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=1465&title=We_Didn_t_Start_the_Fire

Bummed Out

I'm feeling blue. I didn't get the 6th grade job. I was 98% sure I was getting this one. I could have been in Arizona this week but I stayed to interview today. Now, I have asked for an interview for two second grade positions. The problem--they close next week which means the interviews will be next week. What's that mean? If I get an interview I cannot go to Arizona next week either.

What I've learned? Never say you are sure about anything. Even if it is 98% sure.
