Busy Week

As many of you know (Well, probably all three of my followers anyway) I am trying to complete a certification for a license to be a principal. To do this I have to complete 450 hours of time in the schools working with principals. Kind of like Student Teaching. I guess it could be called "Student Administrating". These hours are in addition to my hours at work.

So-here's my busy week-
Monday: Work, night class in Salt Lake. Classes are from 6-10 PM.

Tuesday: Work, voting, met with a church leader.

Wednesday: Work, early bedtime

Thursday: Work, supervise Sophomore football game, supervise girls volleyball

Friday: Work, train teachers on new gradebook, supervise football game

Saturday: Dog to grooming, worked individually with a teacher on the new gradebook system, did dishes, made rice krispie treats, worked on creating charts from the data for the high school.

When I read this blog as a preview it doesn't sound that busy--but considering I leave by 7:15 AM and get home many nights around 11:00 PM-that's a busy day!

Jobs

I am not exactly unbiased when I think about jobs. Here's my new dilemma. In the job I have now I don't think I can move up--for example to an assistant principal or principal. I'm not really taken seriously when applying for these positions because I am not in the classroom anymore.

So-I'm thinking I should go back to the classroom. I have been interviewing, but it is such a hard year to get a change in positions (economy, budget cuts). However, I have an opportunity where I am pretty sure I could get a sixth grade position. It is with a principal I like, at a school I like.

Pro--better chance of moving to an administrative position in the future; I prefer teaching kids than working with computers and complaining teachers.
Con--$200 paycut; unsure if I can teach 6th grade.

Any advice?

Hard Work Pays Off

Wow! I checked the Spanish grade today and it is a B-. I am pretty happy about that because we worked hard to get make up work done and turned in. The funny thing is he had lower grades in two other classes (not by too much). The reason for the lower grades? Missing Assignments. Ugh!!!! I dread September.

So Much For the Good Mom Theory!

I have been working very hard to be a good mom. After all there is just one kid and he is only with me two weeks out of every month. Let me just list my virtues: I quit a second job so I could spend more time with him. I signed him up to play a very costly sport (I know what teenage boys can do if they are not kept busy.) I help with homework, give lunch money, buy new underwear, socks, shorts, and t-shirts, sit in the living room while he watches TV because he wants his mom nearby, and I even attempt to cook and keep cold water in the refrigerator.

So-after all this hard work I find out my wonderful teenager is getting a very low grade in Spanish. In fact, I won't tell you the grade so he isn't embarrassed, but suffice it to say you really can't get much worse than this grade. Now, those of you in Arizona let me just say that although I was jealous that you got out of school so early-as usual-I am glad I had an extra couple weeks to help him get caught up in Spanish class.

All week long we have been doing homework amidst lacrosse games and practices. We have completed an autobiography complete with pictures for English. And finally today we finished all the Spanish we could possible finish and did all the extra credit we could possibly do. Why am I saying "we"? Oh man, am I tired. After all this work I deserve to pass the class--er I mean after all the work he did he deserves to pass the class. All right-I did help, but he had to do the work. So-really he has earned at least one grade higher than it is now, thus a passing grade and a mother who will not be mad at him all summer. I guess I'm not supermom, but next year--no pass no play policy goes into effect at this house!

Whew

Just thought you would like to know that when I woke up this morning the plagairism checker was finished--of course. I wasn't sure if I should look. After all I could just plead the university was at fault. Or-I could look and then fix the paper and resubmit it with an "I know you can't grade this version" disclaimer. However, the match was only 4% and those were the references which don't count. So-I won! I turned it in on time and I won't be penalized.

The trouble with online classes

I am having severe trauma at the moment. It is 11:46. I have a paper due at 11:59 and no later or it's docked points for me. The paper is written, I have had the online tutor check for mistakes. I have fixed those mistakes. Now it's 11:47.....48.... I had to sumbmit the paper to plaigerism checker. I did that at 9:30. It still isn't finished checking it. Now I'm in a pickle. Do I submit anyway at 11:58 without the results and risk having missed those darn quotation marks? Or do I wait until the last possible second 49.... and get it in? If it's turned in at midnight I lose points. If I plaigerized I get kicked out of school. 50.....I just refreshed the page and it still isn't back. UUUGGGHHH!!!! I should have finished it yesterday. 51....52....I realize an 18 page 6,000 word paper takes a while and everyone else in the entire world has the same deadline if they are online learners with the UOP. 53...I am going to just bore you all to death until I make my decision. I almost think something bad is going to happen in 7 minutes--like a bomb might go off right here in my living room--or I'll fall 54.... asleep and miss the deadline. Are you sick of this post yet? My hands are tired of typing. I've been doing it for three days nonstop as I've worked on this paper. 55.... 4 more minutes till it all ends. I just refreshed the page again and it still isn't done...tick...tick...tick.... I can't take it--what if the online classroom goes down in the next 3 minutes 56....57...Okay--I posted it. I am not a good risk taker. I think I have an ulcer. The bright side is I get to go to bed now! Good night.
