So-Kirby and I were outside cleaning out the car which should really happen daily but happens about once per month.
Anyway-we were out there minding our own business. Kirby was on his leash. Suddenly a loud barking sound came from next door. Usually the barking is muffled because it comes from inside the neighbor's house. Today however, it was definitely not muffled. I looked up and the neighbor's dog was charging my little tiny dog.
The neighbor's dog is about a foot higher and two feet longer than mine. The neighbor's dog outweighs mine by about 50 pounds.
So-the dog is charging over to us, his leash dragging on the ground. The neighbor who is about 95 and can hardly walk practically ran after the dog. (Kind of hilarious if it weren't so scary!)
The dog made it over to Kirby and started--well, I don't really know because I wasn't on the receiving end. I ran to the other end of Kirby's leash and stepped in front of him to keep the other dog away. Kirby, in his attempt to get away, wound his leash around the carport pole.
Of course the poor old guy was mortified. Kirby was shaking he was sooo scared. I was trying to figure out how to comfort Kirby and let the neighbor know I wasn't angry-you know--brotherly love and all.....
I finally picked Kirby up, the neighbor caught the leash of his dog and they went on a walk. Kirby and I finished cleaning out the car-but he insisted on being held. He even jumped in the car and refused to get out.
All of this took place in a two minute time period. An hour later, poor Kirby was still shaking. He didn't cringe or anything when I felt his bones and stuff, but he was moving kind of slowly. I finally gave the poor boy a half a baby aspirin.
Now he is sleeping in between my legs-under a blanket. He starts shaking again when I take him out to go to the bathroom.
That's my doggie story for today....

Thoughts About Nothing in Particular
So-I went to a Community Watch Meeting for the Apartment Complex I live in. The only manager who has ever taken an interest and done something about Community Watch was transferred on Friday. She didn't see it coming. I am in charge of Community Watch for the Apartments. Guess how many showed up for the meeting? Besides me? 1. One person besides myself. We have the most apathetic people living here. Oh, I mean apathetic unless something happens like say a drive by shooting, or drug busts, or gangsters.
Today I was in the kitchen doing dishes-a weekly occurrence. I had the blinds open-a monthly occurrence. (I live on the bottom and don't like people seeing in!) A guy jumped up on my balcony, climbed to the second floor apartment, and went in through their porch to let a girl in.
What would you do? On one hand-there are three girls who live upstairs-I just saw three girls 20 minutes prior to this leaving for church. Is this a fourth girl of whom I don't know about? Is this one of the three and I saw a friend going to church with the other two? Or-is it a burglary in progress?
I called the police. Yes, I did. What a good little Community Watch Coordinator I was! They sent cops and back up cops. I think the girl lives up there-no one ever told me anything-but I did see the cops looking at my balcony and up to the second floor.
Sorry neighbors-but is it better to call the cops and have it be one of you, or to not call the cops and have you come home to things being gone? I'd rather have my neighbors send a cop to question me.

In a World Where "Class" is Often Questioned
Apologies to my family who do not listen to the same music as I do.
I do not always agree with the way people live or the music they play or the videos they make. But once in a while it does the human spirit good to see these same people doing something extraordinary. These two clips are two of these times.
This is a tribute to one of my favorite performers by my one of my favorite performers.
A well spoken tribute to Michael Jackson from Madonna at the MTV Video Awards.
Another first rate, classy act from Beyonce to Taylor Swift who was shown incredible disrespect by another performer. If you did not see the show, you may have heard about it. Taylor won an award. She is not a hip hop, rap, or pop artist. She is a country artist. During her acceptance speech a performer took the mic from her and made the comment that Beyonce was the best. Taylor did not get to finish accepting her award. What Beyonce did when her video won an award later in the show is what the Golden Rule is all about.

Busy Week
As many of you know (Well, probably all three of my followers anyway) I am trying to complete a certification for a license to be a principal. To do this I have to complete 450 hours of time in the schools working with principals. Kind of like Student Teaching. I guess it could be called "Student Administrating". These hours are in addition to my hours at work.
So-here's my busy week-
Monday: Work, night class in Salt Lake. Classes are from 6-10 PM.

Tuesday: Work, voting, met with a church leader.
Wednesday: Work, early bedtime
Thursday: Work, supervise Sophomore football game, supervise girls volleyball
Friday: Work, train teachers on new gradebook, supervise football game

Saturday: Dog to grooming, worked individually with a teacher on the new gradebook system, did dishes, made rice krispie treats, worked on creating charts from the data for the high school.
When I read this blog as a preview it doesn't sound that busy--but considering I leave by 7:15 AM and get home many nights around 11:00 PM-that's a busy day!

Lookin' For Some Ideas``
It has been a hard week at work. The weekend is here and I need some suggestions on what relaxing things to do. If I had the money I would be at my niece's wedding reception in Washington State, then I'd be down in Arizona for my uncle's funeral.
However, I am stuck here in depressing Utah. I have been yelled at or gotten after almost every day this week from teachers and principals. I HATE the beginning of the school year. I can't figure out why more adults don't realize that one person in charge of 300 computers, 60 projectors, 60 document cameras, and a conundrum of other technological things that maybe, just maybe, one person is working as hard as they can to get things fixed and working.
Yes, I am hating my job. As you know I tried to get back to the classroom this year, but wasn't successful. Now I remember why I wanted back. I am stressed to the max.
So-any ideas on how to de-stress and relax that don't cost money? Don't tell me to go window shopping either. The ex is causing my son stress about what I do and do not purchase and therefore, this has caused me stress to. So--ideas that involve no money and no wishing I could spend money. Probably it would be better for me to have to get out of bed. My ideas are: sleep, take the dog to grooming (already paid for), do homework that is due on Monday, and sleep.
Please write some ideas for me---I'm going to bed now.

Garage Sale Blues
Usually I am pretty savvy with garage sales.
I never go to them, but I always have them.

Usually I can have a garage sale and end up with somewhere between $200 and $400. This year is a bit different. Maybe it's the economy-I don't know.
I held a garage sale in July and barely made over $90. Yesterday I added some things to my friend's garage sale and made about $15.
The worst part is her brother was selling something that I knew Austin would love. And-it was a steal at $50. I would never find another one for $50. He had one once, but his dad's brother sold it. So-I bought it. Here is a picture of one like it:
.jpg)
Yes, I bought him a gas powered scooter. I am the BOMB!!!! He even said so!
So-instead of making money at the garage sale I came out with $35 less than I started with. Oh well. Sometimes you just have to be the BOMB!!!!

Fishing For Comments
Okay you guys. When a person texts you and says, "Check out my blog" that generally means the person really, really wants you to see something new on the blog. When you say, "I'll do that now" that generally means (loosely translated) I am going there as I am texting this response and even as I finish this text I am looking at it and am genuinely entertained. It also means-I am not only genuinely entertained, but I am a bit jealous at the creative endeavor the creator of the podcast undertook while on vacation. In fact, if I (the textee and reader of the blog) really think about it and if I had $1,000,000,000 I would pay the creator (texter, podcaster) a lot of money.
All of the previous genuine perusal of the blog generally causes one to write a comment about the podcast posted on the previously posted and discussed blog. In fact, not saying something like, "Ha ha, funny" or even, "This is really lame" makes the creator of the blog (podcast) wonder if the recipients of the above original text really looked at the blog.
So-while the original texter may have more time on her hands than say,for example, the textees, one must genuinely (I like this word today) wonder if it was worth the four hours it took to compile the podcast from the previous day's blog post.
Feel guilty yet? Post a response then! :)

Nothing Much Once Again!
Today I am just sitting here contemplating everything. Since I have no siblings or parents around that seems to be what I do a lot of--contemplating. I contemplate because it's not real fun to talk out loud to myself.
Anyway--isn't life funny? Not really, but it was something to write. Hmmm. I walked eight and a half miles today. My feet HURT!!! I got sunburned through my shirt--or it's just red from heat.
Found out the job I interviewed for was given to someone else--politics within the district. So-even though I was bummed out on Thursday it makes much more sense today.
What else can I tell you that will bore you to tears? I'm watching Hannah Montana. I haven't seen this episode. Yes, I watch Hannah Montana. And--I want to see the Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. This is why I should still be in the classroom-I watch the same shows as the kids-and like them.
Don't know if I'll be able to make it to Arizona. I'm hoping to have a couple of interviews next week. I'll have to wait and see. Hopefully I can at least come for a couple of days.
Bored yet? How about a video? It's one of my favorites. If you can't view it here, the URL is: http://teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=1465&title=We_Didn_t_Start_the_Fire

Life in the Fast Lane
I drive down the freeway in the "slow" lane, catch myself going about 45 miles an hour behind some idiot who is talking on the phone and realize I'm making that choice to drive behind him. Please--No one else is on the road, so why do I get mad at him? Eventually I make my way to the fast lane and am much happier going speeds better for freeway driving. If it is a cool enough day I can even do this speedy driving with my sunroof open, radio blasting, hat on (so my head doesn't get sunburned), and freshly spread sunscreen on my arms. Now that's the life!
The fast lane has always been enjoyable for me, but lately I've noticed that I drive slower than usual and tend to stay in the slow lane. When a new freeway was built with the max speed of 55 mph I chose to take the slower freeway. What is wrong with me? I must be getting old. Come to think of it those Sunday drives are sounding better and better. In fact, when I think about driving I now get excited to drive 55 instead of 65.
I've noticed this about life too. Where I used to be all about going fast and accomplishing a lot, I now am much happier to putz around doing just about nothing. Well--okay--that's probably an accurate winter description of how I handle life. Really-snow, cold, and no sun make putzing one of my favorite past times. Of course you can't really putz unless you go to bed early or sleep in late. So-in the winter it is early to bed and putzing during the day.
Spring, summer, and fall are much more like being in the fast lane. In fact I've been walking close to five miles per day, then I find some project to work on. Today I walked, got a blister, put a bandaid on my blister while I felt sorry for myself, did laundry, went to Home Depot, made a shelf to put a planter on, went back to Home Depot to find something to hook it on to my fence with so the cat's don't do their business in my strawberries, picked up Austin from his friends house, made dinner, picked up medicine from Walgreens, helped Austin with homework, signed him up for lacrosse camp this summer, made an excel sheet of what I have spent on Austin this school year, surfed the web, and blogged. This kind of sounds like putzing, but it is more quick paced than winter putzing.
Anyway-I guess I need to remember that sometimes putzing is okay. Sometimes slowing down and taking time to enjoy life is a good thing. In fact, this summer I plan to do more putzing than normal. Sounds like fun--oh man, I am getting old.

Something of Nothing
I keep trying to think of something to write about. However, I haven't thought of anything, so here I am posting something about nothing. I have now sat through two Lacrosse games in pouring rain. I've decided I need a bigger umbrella. I either had to protect my knees from getting wet, or the back of my chair. If I didn't cover the back of my chair then my behind ended up getting wet. It was kind of miserable, but I was impressed that these boys played a full game in the pouring rain.
Nothing much has been happening. I am tired. It's the end of the school year and everyone at school gets grouchy after spring break. I am excited for summer. It will be good to have an entire summer break.
